The Wisconsin Center District (WCD) has announced the 2011-‘12 lineup of Broadway shows at the Milwaukee Theatre, including Shrek The Musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, In The Heights, Rain – A Tribute to The Beatles, The All-New Original Tribute to The Blues Brothers ™ and Disney Live! Presents Three Classic Fairy Tales. The 2011-’12 Broadway season runs from Oct. 28, 2011 through May 5, 2012.
“This season has something for everyone ranging from the family-friendly Shrek The Musical to the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific to the universal story of In The Heights,” said WCD President and CEO Richard Geyer. “We are continually striving at the Milwaukee Theatre to provide top-notch shows directly from Broadway at competitive prices to those in our community. This season’s lineup does just that.”
The Milwaukee Theatre 2011-’12 Season
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, Friday, Oct.28 – Sunday, Oct. 30. Set on a tropical island during World War II, South Pacific tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices. Tickets range from $33 to $75.
Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales, Sunday, November 20. Prepare to step into a world of wonder where wishing is only the beginning and dreams really do come true in Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales. Join Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy as they bring the timeless fairytale adventures of Cinderella, Beauty and The Beast, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to life right in your hometown. Tickets range from $15 to $49.
Rain – A Tribute to The Beatles, Thursday, March 1. Rain performs the full range of The Beatles' discography live onstage, including the most complex and challenging songs that The Beatles themselves recorded in the studio but never performed for an audience. Together longer than The Beatles, Rain has mastered every song, gesture and nuance of the legendary foursome, delivering a totally live, note-for-note performance in this multi-media concert, that’s as infectious as it is transporting. Tickets range from $33 to $75.
The All-New Original Tribute to The Blues Brothers™, Thursday, March 8. Your favorite Blues Brothers moments and songs come to life in the legendary All-New Original Tribute to the Blues Brothers™. Jake and Elwood Blues bring a humorous, swinging and lively show to Milwaukee crooning your favorite songs with a few new twists, a few new moves and a clean, freshly laundered suit. Tickets range from $33 to $63.
Shrek The Musical, Thursday, April 5 – Sunday, April 8. Based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, Shrek The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone! Tickets range from $33 to $75.
In The Heights, Friday, May 4 – Saturday, May 5. In The Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. Tickets range from $33 to $75.
